Doorway Rounds With The "Looks Good From The Door" Level Of Care.

Everyone knows that physical exam is over rated.  I mean seriously,  how many times does one need to pretend that documenting a daily heart and lung exam is going to make any difference in the care of the hospitalized patient.  Some doctors understand the futility of daily physical exam and have resorted to doorway rounds as their method of choice for rapid completion of their hospital rounds.

Did you know that it is theoretically possible to bill a low level hospital follow up code 99231 with nothing more than a set of three vital signs, one ICD code and a wave from the door?   That's right folks.  For doctors who find themselves in a race for time, doorway rounds offer the perfect opportunity to collect the Medicare National Bank's gratuitous looks good from the door fee for service provided.   Just don't document that you listened to their heart and lungs with your world's longest stethoscope.   That turns you into  nothing more than a fraudulent douchebag.  This doctor someecard helps explain the concept.
