Several years ago we stopped by Roca Berry Farm (also called Roca Scary Farm) during Halloween season. It was just the two of us and we thought the place was kind of silly. Fast forward several years and one little 17 month old baby later and it was a whole different experience. They've added a few stuff since our last visit there. While not the most sophisticated amusement destination, for a pumpkin patch in the middle of of a small farming community, the $6.50 per person (18 months and under are free) was worth a couple hours of family fun that brought big smiles to our little one.
Zachary was especially amused by the collection of bright colorful flowers he could walk through. Simple pleasures that excite the innocent mind. From there we headed on over to the giant jumping pillows that were new from our last visit several years ago. We spent a good 15-20 minutes jumping around all by ourselves. He had a blast, running back and forth on the pillow as mommy and daddy gave him a littel bouncy air time. He especially enjoyed running off the steep end and bonking his head on the pillow. Over and over again. More, more he signed. His excitement was clear. This was fun.
We went in the middle of the day. There were few people there to interrupt his play time on the jumping pillow. From there he headed to the corn bus, a small greenhouse looking shed with a wooden painted cutout of a school bus in the front and filled with a foot of corn seed inside. He liked walking through the corn and picking it up with his little hands. Then it was on to the slides. A couple decent long slides down a steep hill, one of them a tunnel slide. He couldn't get enough, as you can see in his video below. He also enjoyed the buggy cars and watching the goats and bunnies run around in their encasement areas. We didn't do the hayrack ride or the scary psycho path but I snuck through the haunted house on my own for a brief moment. It was actually quite a fun experience, much more than I was expecting. For $6.50 per person, I'd say this was a fun way to spend part of an afternoon if you're looking to get away for a little family fun and you're in the area. We sure had fun with our Zachy there.
