Walmart Flu Shot Discount Price. Pay With Your Life!

UPDATE January 2013:  The flu season is in full effect.  I am currently experiencing  record hospitalist census numbers.  I have more flu patients now than I have in any prior decade of professional experience in the hospital setting.   I am currently seeing an Influenza A strain sweeping across my city.    It came early and aggressively.

The folks I'm seeing in the hospital are sick,  They are really sick.  They are requiring ventilators in the intensive care unit.  They are lingering for days and weeks in the hospital trying to recuperate from their life threatening illness.  They are getting superimposed bacterial pneumonias with parapneumonic effusions, some of which are requiring surgical debridement.

If you are a candidate for the flu shot, get it.  I don't care where you get it, who gives it to you, who's paying for it, what your copay is or how professional or unprofessional your Walmart or Walgreens or Target nurse is.  If you're a Medicare patient, Medicare will pay for your flu shot.  Here is the CMS resource for 2013-2014  for providers explaining influenza vaccine payment allowances.  In addition, Medicare also provides this important file containing flu resources for healthcare professionals.  Get your flu shot and get your kids vaccinated before it's too late.  Don't be stupid and protect your kids from the vaccine.  The flu is killing our children this year.

If you found this post looking for the cost of the flu shot, the cost is less than your life.  It doesn't matter how much.  Just get your shot as soon as possible, discount or no discount.  If you are a health care worker in the hospital setting, I implore you to get your flu shot too.  It's the right thing to do for your patients.  Hopefully there are professional nurses in the employee health!

As for a little flu humor, what's up with this notice that Walmart is selling flu shots administered by professional nurses. Makes me wonder what the discounted price would be if the flu shot was given by unprofessional nurses!
