Some women have a tendency to carry a little extra facial hair as they get older. Most of the time, hormonal changes after menopause are to blame. I've seen some pretty hairy women in my last ten years as a hospitalist physician. Hirsutism has never been the primary reason they got admitted. However, making the observation of hirsutism is important when developing a differential diagnosis. If there is one hormone abnormality, there is likely to be another. Who is this hairy woman with all that facial hair. Why, it's grandma Happy, of course. She doesn't mind the gawkers. She supports herself year round after a week in the carnival exhibit at the Wahoo County Fair in Wahoo, NE.
Even by her standards, she looked extra hairy in this picture. Hopefully it wasn't the Mexican food that put a little hair hair on her face. I took this picture at her birthday party. Who would have thought that turning 76 changed everything. Perhaps, some women were just born to be hairy. Maybe she has a little French in her. Either way, at least she carries her beard nicely groomed. It should help her keep warm this winter. That's not a nicotine stain I see, is it?, is it grandma?
