Italian Greyhound Rescue Adoption Pictures: We Almost Ended Up With Four Dogs

You've all heard about crazy cat people.  One of my partners has five four cats  and her friends are always making fun of the fact that she's one of them.  But Mrs Happy and I have no room to talk.  We almost left the Humane Society one day with two more Italian greyhound rescue adoption dogs.  It's very rare to see Italian greyhounds at the humane society.  If they find their way to a Humane Society, they are usually gone in days.  These two dogs were abandoned on the street.  How sad is that.  These are not street dogs.  They must be housed in doors.

Italian greyhounds are very sensitive animals.  They need lots of attention.  They can be difficult to potty train and can be high maintenance at times and they get their feelings hurt very easily.    They have a low threshold for  pain and temperature change.  They can be prone to seizures (Cooper has seizures) and hypoglycemia as well as the obvious broken bones.  But they are some of the most gentle lap dogs I have every seen.  They are our puppy angles.  They are our own slice of heaven.  Marty and Cooper bring such joy to our lives.

We got Marty first. Six months later we got Cooper.  They are best buds to each other.    They clean each others ears.  They play.  They snuggle.  They fight.  They each have their defined individuality.  I can tell who is who by the way their chain jingles in the other room.

These are the two pictures of the Italian greyhounds we almost adopted at the Humane Society.    This was a while back.  I can't remember their names.  But they were the sweetest little dogs.  But the brown one loved me.  She wouldn't leave my side and she loved to snuggle.  If I had to do it again, Italian greyhound rescue and adoption would be my way to go.

There are Italian greyhound rescue adoption clubs all across the country.  In our local group we get together several times a year with 40-50 other Italian greyhounds that run and play together.  The organizer runs our local rescue adoption services and usually brings several foster dogs waiting for a good home.

In the end, we decided against taking these two little pumpkins home with us.  They were just adorable, but we couldn't see ourselves taking care of four when our hands are full with two.  I don't think Marty and Cooper would have been too keen on the idea of sharing either.  I hope they ended up finding wonderful homes.  If they are anything like our Marty and Cooper, I'm sure they do.
