What did you do on Earth day 2009? I gardened and made this video.
I tilled the field. Happy's getting a garden this year. Here I am tilling up the clay with a 40 year old tiller. It's old but works like a charm. Here's the plan. Carrots, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red peppers, peas, yellow squash, cantaloupe and beans.
Tilling the field. What are you planting this year for Earth Day 2009 garden?

Using a 40 y/o tiller sounds like a risky lifestyle choice to me. Don't get hurt.
ReplyDeleteBTW hope you're adding topsoil to that clay..
Red potatoes, 2 kinds of tomatoes, green beans, snap peas, cucumber, yellow squash, lettuce, cantaloupe, carrots, red, yellow, green and purple peppers, shallots, dill, parsley, cilantro, banana peppers, jalapenos.
ReplyDeleteUsing a 40 y/o tiller with nasty emmissions sounds like a risky lifestyle choice to me. Don't get hurt.
ReplyDeleteBTW, you are adding topsoil and other good stuff to that clay right?
Buttercrunch lettuce, cantalopes, yellow, red and purple peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, watermelon, tomato's , red potato's and strawberries! Happy tilling!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you will have a healthy balanced garden. Good luck and hope you have a bountiful harvest Doc.
ReplyDeleteMy God is that you? You look about 18 years old, Mrs Happy must be looking after you real well!
ReplyDeleteWe use a shovel for that, add some Red onions and garlic and it would be a perfect, self sustaining garden. Great job Happy.
What are you planting this year?
ReplyDeleteMedical Marijuana.
Happy Earth Day, Happy. Knowing you, you've researched your yard's soil composition. But if not, go take your pickup and get a huge load of compost for that clay. Even better, cotton burr mulch. Second, get bunny wire, unless the iggys are going to be vigilant for you. Last summer, the bunnies came up my deck stairs to sit (and eat) amongst my potted herbs. Stared into my dining room while wreaking their havoc. Go get 'em, Garden Happy!!
ReplyDeleteI want to try the upside down tomatoe plants, need to go shopping and find them first.
ReplyDeleteYou're a cutie! I thought you were older.
ReplyDeleteVery nice... but what about the bugs?
ReplyDeleteWe were tempted to start a garden also, but we did not want to use pesticides and keeping the bugs at bay seemed a challenge. We felt defeated (overwhelmed?) before we even started! OK, we are two pathetic weaklings :-(
