Do you sleep a lot during the day? If you do, your health could be at risk. It could be a marker for underlying cardiovascular death. After reading the study conclusions, I'm not sure how sound the data is, however, it would make sense, if you're sleeping, you're not exercising. Maybe daytime somnolence is nothing more than a marker for lack of exercise.

But couldn't daytime sleepiness in the elderly also be related to medications they take?
ReplyDeleteoh, crap! I sleep all the time during the day. Oh wait, I work nights! (another carcinogen too though!) Guess I'm just screwed.
ReplyDeleteIt's far more likely that daytime somnolence is a marker for more advanced cardiovascular disease/decreased cardiac output.
