A reader presented me with this case report of spinal pneumonia. The patient was admitted to the nephrology service. Antibiotics were started for possible "pneumonia". After several days of failing to improve a CT scan was subsequently obtained. Here is the scout film.
It is quite apparent on the scout film that the majority of the mess in the right lung is the severe scoliosis and there is, in fact little to no evidence infection in that right lung.

A cross sectional CT image shows the marked deviation of the spine and the anatomical displacement of the heart to the left chest wall.

Yes folks. A rip roaring case of spinal pneumonia. I'm not sure if that's even an ICD code.
