Regarding autism diagnosis certainly there is increased awareness but also there is assortative mating since silicon valley (and other locales) computer programmers and engineers are marrying programmers and engineers.
Just as there are laws prohibiting first cousins from marrying perhaps there should be laws prohibiting computer programmers and engineers marrying same -- instead they should marry psychologists or school teachers :-)
