Hope and faith is achieved by personal introspection. By family. By faith. By your circle of friends. Why on earth would you want a multimillionaire stranger controlling your vision of hope and faith? That basis of irrational thought will devastate you. If you base your vision of hope and faith for yourself on the actions strangers, you will always be disappointed. And you will always look to the government to fix you. The more you rely on government for your hope and faith, the more disappointed you will be when they let you down.

You seriously seem to have some personal disdain for the guy. The president is more than just some bureaucrat in the government. He is also a leader, and the presidency is an office many look up to, regardless of party. Leaders that have been able to get the country through rough times like Washington, Lincoln, FDR, JFK, and Reagan have. I know there are some mindless supporters of him. But can you not accept the fact that he is an inspiring figure? It's not as if that is a bad thing.

ReplyDeleteThis is one of your most insightful posts ever. You are exactly correct: many Americans are looking for a savior, someone to give them eternal hope, someone to rescue them from the "despair" they are currently experiencing, someone to satisfy their desires, someone to heal them.
ReplyDeleteThese Americans are looking to have their souls' desires satisfied by a man. They are putting their faith in Obama to change their souls and to give them joy.
They will be woefully disappointed when they realize the truth: putting faith in someone, the 44th president of the United States, is a hopeless endeavor because this Obama is just a fallible man and not God.
of course you expect it...you have never had a door shut in your face based on pigment. The accomplishment is not his..it is america's. I take care of strangers everyday...do I try to give them hope...yes. Do I disappoint them...try not to.
