Zippy's Great Hawaiian Adventure

_________________________________________________

The Fun With Zippy Series Continues

Let me just say I feel like the luckiest lobster alive. I met Dr Happy and Mrs Happy on the great island of Maui. It was the greatest experience of my life. At first I wasn't sure if Rural Doctor was going to let me leave. But I finally convinced her that a lobster's home is in the ocean, and she fell for it hook, line and sinker. I have only read about Lobster Paradise in the travel magazines. Never did I think I would one day be living that dream. But I did. And I want to share with you all my wonderful experiences. I always kept the kids in mind as I wondered through the jungles, swam the oceans and crawled the beaches of paradise found. In my quest to raise money for children with brain cancer I say, for all you kids out there, this trip was for you. You can find my other great adventures at my home base, Fun With Zippy. The details of my Hawaiian adventure had to leave my home base and travel to Happy's House because of some technical difficulties with all my pictures. With that said, I would like to thank my Lob Father, Dr Rob for making me what I am today, a strong, independent lobster with a vision and a goal in life. Thank you Dr. Rob for your wonderful guidance in my life, and for letting me travel the world. Now, let's go to Maui and kick some lobster tail.

I made lots of friends. One of the greatest things about Maui is the wonderful Aloha spirit. Everyone was so nice to me. They all thought I was really cute. They sure know how to boost a lobster's self image. I met Crabby (above) one day while taking a leisurely stroll on the beach. She didn't say much. But I helped her come out of her shell and we had a great time talking about the surf and the sea. I also met Hercules (bottom).

He liked to workout on the beach. I could always count on him for a big Herculean smile. I was impressed by how big his claws were. He said the key to staying healthy was eating lots of fresh Hawaiian pineapple and crawling at least 3 miles a day or cracking clams for at least 30 minutes a day. He hopes to live to about 40 years old. I gotta say, with his lifestyle, he'll probably make it.

I also got to meet Elphe (right). She was hanging out at pool. Her friends had ditched her to go grazing. Elphe just wanted to lay out and take in the sun. That's what elephants should do in Maui.

Maui was a great adventure island. There was so much to do and so little time. The plants were amazing. Even the plants had plants. Here I am in a palm tree. I thought for sure coconuts would be up there. But I couldn't find a thing. Then I got tangled in this bamboo forest. That was scary. You can click on any of the pictures at any time to make them bigger.

And this lilly pad I found made me feel like I was floating on air. As a lobster, I am constantly reminded of the risks to my life and claw. Some people think I taste good. To me, that's just gross. Why would anyone want to eat lobster meat? I don't get it. But because my life is always in danger, I am constantly reminded to stop and smell the flowers. I can assure you, these flowers were hypnotizing. They made me want to relax and take in all the ocean breeze. At one point I even found a plant that looked just like me. Dr. and Mrs. Happy took me to a paradise garden, filled with exotic plants and wonderful smells. It was here that I found my soul plant. The Hanging Lobster Claw. Who knew that such a wonderful crustacean would show up in the plant world for all the insects to enjoy.

I think she is my lobster. I felt right at home in the Lobster Forest. And I wanted the world to remember Zippy. So I signed the guest book. After we left

the gardens, we headed to the open jungles. I was really scared at times. But the beauty of the place calmed me down and my claws stopped shaking. We went exploring into the jungles.
We even caught a few waterfalls. Dr and Mrs Happy went swimming in a couple of fresh water pools. They say it was freezing cold. I didn't have the crust to jump in.

At one point we even went snorkeling. Happy took me with him. I was so grateful to see how my lobster friends must fend for themselves on the great ocean floors.

All this adventure seeking was expensive. Between the food and the gas, I spent all my money. I had to stop and get some cash. But it was well worth it.
Then I spent a moment to send my mama a postcard. I told her all about my new lobster friend, Pippy, that I met on the ocean floor.

With all this adventure seeking wearing me out, I asked Happy if I could just relax for a couple days. He obliged with open arms. We had pool day.
I swam and went down a slide. I even laid out for a while. Of course, I lathered on the suntan lotion. I didn't want to get too red.

And I topped it off with a nice pool side massage by a cabana lobster. Talk about relaxing. I never knew a lobster claw could move like that.

When poolside was over, I had a chance to watch a fire thrower. Man, talk about crazy. I wouldn't get near that thing. But he was kind enough to allow me to take my picture with him. I got really scared up there. I thought I was going to fall into his head. But Happy saved me.
Then this really great Hawaiian singer let me play his guitar. That was fun.

Then I listened to him sing while I sipped away from this giant pineapple drink. And when the drink was empty Happy, Mrs. Happy and I ate that thing to its outer shell. Then we headed to the sea to catch a beautiful Maui sunset.

And we watched the torches light up the sky.

With a belly full of drink and a sunset behind me, I decided to hang loose on a hammock and watch the stars above me.

With the end rapidly approaching, I couldn't help but wonder what Happy had in store for me next. It turns out the Old Lahaina Luau was my final destination. It had everything. Great food. Great fun. Great people.

I want to thank Dr. Happy and his wife for allowing me to invade their vacation to help raise money for the kids. I want to thank Theresa over at Rural Doc for overnight Fed Ex'ing me to Maui so I could continue my efforts to raise money for the sick kids. If you had any idea how much that cost her, you would be throwing money at my cause right now. I went through all this effort of having a good time so that other kids can as well. Please help Dr Rob, and myself, Zippy, raise money for the less fortunate kids who have been hit with brain cancer. All money donated goes to helping fight this terrible disease. All it takes is a click here . Mahalo.
