8 Outbursts:

  1. I cannot see what it is. If you took a picture, it has to be bad; chocolate pie maybe?
When they remodeled one of our local hospitals a few years ago, the lobby got a major overhaul, including a brand new indoors McDonald's. I don't know if it is still there.

  2. I was at UC Davis hospital in Sac last week. My appointment was at 11:30 so I asked the desk staff if the cafeteria was any good. "Oh, it's great, the grill is to one side for cheeseburgers, the hot dish is to the side of that and desserts are to the back." "Ummm, do they have a salad bar?" "Yeah, I think so"

Got down there and found premixed salads, all the high fat, high salt, high yummy salad fixings. I did find a sandwich bar that you could conceivably create a nice sandwich.

Holy hell batman, I know you have to make what sells, but when I'm in the cardiology waiting room asking about food, I'd like to think you'd give me some options that could be construed as healthy by the weakest standards.

OK, got that off my chest, along with the sticky tape from the ECG leads.

I love the blog btw, it's neat to have a different viewpoint than "patient" or "client".

  3. its a big ass cookie with chocolate frosting. great way to get the cardiac and diabetic patients excited. It does seem hospitals are notorious for providing not heart health foods.
HH any prize for correct picture identification ? (I know my cookies)

  4. I'm an IM resident and the best example of this for me was the rotation I did at Jacobi Medical Center. Their only option for food a McDonald's. I guess they just replaced it w/ an Au Bon Pain
