Why Pay Less When You Can Pay More

With regards to the competitive bidding process that has been shown to reduce costs:

With those companies about to start selling their wares next month, Congress has bowed to pressure from the losing bidders. The House approved legislation Tuesday that would terminate the contracts and delay the launch for 18 months. In the Senate, key committee leaders are leaning toward a delay.

The Medicare National Bank has once again fallen prey to lawyer lobbyists. The free flow of spigot money has been guaranteed by spineless politicians who care only for their reelection. Why spend $80 on a walker when you can spend $110. Well, because Medicare says you can. (NYT)

We have primary care offices all across this country closing their doors to new Medicare patients due to lack of funding, and yet we have our clowns at the Medicare National Bank signing off on spending $110 for a walker when the market says it's worth only $80.

When the market says it's only worth $80.

And you wonder why the system is going bankrupt. Tic-toc-tic-toc. With the bankrupting of primary care, I wanna know who's going to write the script and sign all the paperwork for those walkers. It certainly won't be the cardiologist.

  1. Unfortunately I have no faith that the Democrats are any less in the pocket of lobbyists and "interests" than the Republicans.
