Uncombable Hair Syndrome

Both inherited (autosomal dominant and recessive with variable levels of penetrance) and sporadic forms of uncombable hair syndrome have been described, both being characterized by scalp hair that is impossible to comb due to the haphazard arrangement of the hair bundles.  This isn't something hair restoration for women can solve.

In America, this usually leads to disability benefits.

4 Outbursts:

  1. It's actually part of a disorder called ectodermal dysplasia which often has associations with cleft palate, hypodontia, temperature regulation, absence of sweat glands, problems with skin and nails.

  2. I have a friend who is just like this both she and her daughter. And it's exactly what her hair looks like- fine spun glass.

My friend said she just doesn't comb it. Washes and puts her hair in a bun. That's it. Easy peasy.

I'm dying to dump a bottle of conditioner on her head and have a go. I don't know what makes me think I would have any luck but it seems reasonable. :)

  3. Hey, I think I had this syndrome today.
